GDPR & Transparency Compliant Websites

For Parish & Town Councils

Transparency compliant websites

Our websites are designed to allow smaller authorities and parish councils to comply with the transparency codeGDPR and the accessibility standards with minimum fuss and cost.

Accessibility

The Government require public body websites to meet AA rating as a minimum standard. You can read this requirement here on the GDAS website.

We provide a WCAG 2.1 AA rated website package that includes a stylish, mobile-friendly website based on a proven, WCAG-compliant framework, along with training on how to manage your new site.

Use secure public emails

Having a generic clerk email address such as clerk@mycouncil.org.uk will provide added protection and prevent you from being personally liable for using your personal email if hacked.  We provide free public webmail accounts enabled with SSL encryption.

Privacy Policy - Cookie Notice

Almost all websites use cookies – little data files – to store information in peoples’ web browsers. GDPR legislation requires websites to display a privacy policy notice covering cookies designed to protect online privacy, by making visitors aware of how information about them is collected and used online.

The privacy policy is a document, usually a page on the website, in which all of the methods and purposes of the data processing activities on the site are outlined, including contact forms, mailing lists etc.

Mobile Responsive for all displays

Transparency Code Compliant Websites

Responsive websites adjust to any screen size and are ideal for tablets and mobile phones, which are the most commonly used devices to access the internet, allowing your council information to be made easily accessible for all types of users.

Fundamentally, our websites are built on the world’s most popular web platform, which means they will always remain future proof and we use SSL certificates to help secure your website in order to become GDPR compliant. Why use SSL?

It’s flexible design allows us to further develop the site to incorporate services from other governmental websites that can also be customised.

Websites Designed For Parish Councils

We have many Council website templates, with dynamic features specifically designed for Parish Councils, which can be updated via a user friendly dashboard with ease.  A separate 12 month agreement specifically for councils.

Why not consider a Mobile App or Web App?

Mobile App

Revolutionise Community Engagement

A council mobile app is an ideal community app that provides residents with an easier and convenient way to access council and local information because you’re always available on demand from the home screen.

Push notifications are a great way to send out alerts and promote events. Residents can save dates to their calendar, view POI with GPS directions, report faults, view documents, respond to surveys, view newsletters & much more.

A mobile app is an ideal addition to your mobile communications strategy.

As a community app, you have the opportunity to use the directory feature and charge businesses for advertising their services on your app.

Web App

One App. Any Device.

Web apps pioneered by Google are known as Progressive Web Apps (PWA). Basically, a website & mobile app combined into one. The best of both worlds.

A Progressive Web App is the perfect low cost solution that allows your council information to be viewed on any web browser on both desktop and any mobile device, bringing similar features that have only been available for iOS/Android apps until now.

A PWA, when viewed on a mobile browser, prompts the user to save it to their mobile home screen, without the need for any installations. The added bonus, other than its speed and interactive features, is that it allows you to send instant push notifications, similar to a mobile app.

The Transparency Fund for Small Councils

The Transparency Fund

The government has confirmed a £4.7 million Transparency Fund to support small Parish Councils and other smaller authorities to become compliant with the Transparency Code for Smaller Authorities. This funding is being delivered through the National Association of Local Councils and has been available since April 2015 for a 3-year period.

The funding programme aims to provide support, training and guidance to assist those authorities that require support to move to online publishing of this information. This will ensure that the authorities are accountable to their communities and have established an online presence with which they can remain transparent by publishing key information on a timely basis.

The fund applies to authorities with an annual turnover of less than £25,000.

How To Apply For The Transparency Fund

You can access funding through your local CALC. Below are some links provided by NALC and Gov.UK that you may find useful.
